Why you should attend: BUILDEX Alberta 2019

This year, BUILDEX will be celebrating a prosperous 20 years in Alberta.  Held at the BMO Centre in Calgary on November 6-7, 2019, BUILDEX Alberta will cater to the entirety of the building industry; from its architecture and design professionals, to its construction, engineering, and property management professionals.  This premiere event offers a multitude of tailored exhibits and educational offerings that are solely unique to Alberta’s two most active building hubs.

BUILDEX Alberta was founded through the repositioning and combining of the two previous BUILDEX shows: BUILDEX Calgary and BUILDEX Edmonton.  Through these combined events, BUILDEX Alberta 2019 will prove to be the province’s largest business-to-business platform of its kind and will connect the holistic building industry across all sectors.

Elements of the show

The tradeshow component of BUILDEX Alberta will provide exhibitors with a platform to increase their brand visibility, as well as generate valuable connections throughout their business sector and the industry as a whole.  This year, it is expected that there will be more than 175 exhibits taking part in the tradeshow and, from the tradeshow floor, attendees will be able to hear from industry leaders on various stages, including the PerformEX Stage.

Another unique element of the show will be TECHCENTRIC, which is an educational area featuring a variety of 30-minute conversations throughout the day that will educate BUILDEX attendees on present and future technologies within various practices.  These conversations will help attendees to learn about emerging new technologies and cutting-edge innovations that they can then go and apply to their own companies.

Two new elements are being introduced to the BUILDEX event as well.  First, there is the BIM / VDC Innovation Hub, which will be partnering with TECHCENTRIC. The other exciting new element is a Key Developments Content stream, which will mark the inaugural BUILDEX Alberta show by featuring six educational talks that cover some of the province’s key developments.
There will also be 60 unique and tailored seminars throughout the conference that offer up topics on some of the most relevant and pressing developments happening within the building industry.  The conference will bring together leaders from across the globe to Calgary in order to help educate visitors, as well as to start up conversations on the matters that are trending across the industry.

BUILDEX Alberta 2019 will also showcase a CaGBC Green Building and Sustainability Feature Area, which provides attendees with an exclusive opportunity to learn about the advancement of green technology in building practices, materials, and services. And last – but not least – there will also be a Food Truck Alley on site to provide a wide array of diverse and delicious cuisine options.  A food truck festival, containing award-winning food trucks, will be brought right to the floor of the show!

Program Day One

As part of day one – Wednesday, November 6 – there will be a multitude of different elements available to explore for those in attendance.

There will be a TECHCENTRIC talk called ‘Putting New Advancements Within Design and Construction Technology into Practice’, lead by ETRO Construction’s Aubrey Tucker.  This must-see talk will explore game engines, info-graphic presentations, AI technology, and how to get BIM content into your facility’s management program.

Included in the keynote speakers for the first day of the event are Todd Hirsch from ATB Financial, Dr. Katherine (The City Doctor) Loflin, Shelly Bowolin, and Melanie Ross, among others.
